Several students appear to be unaware that this is a closed campus, so clarification is in order:
If you ride the bus, once you get on in the morning you belong to us until you get off it at night. If you are dropped off, you are ours from the moment your feet hit the parking lot until you get back in the car at night. Once your are on school property, you cannot leave until school is out. The only way to legally go to Town Pump is to walk to school and stop there on the way, or be dropped off there before you come on campus. TO BE CLEAR: Once you're on campus, you stay on campus, ALL DAY. (RALSTON)

The office has received a few lists of persons nominated for class officers. These lists are meaningless. The only way to run for an office is to submit a nomination form by the end of today. Forms are available in the office.

Clarification of facial piercing rule change procedure:
Beginning Monday morning at 8:15 am, any student with metal, glass, or colored plastic imbedded in their face will be suspended from school for two days. Clear plastic is the only acceptable form of piercing, band-aids over metal piercings is not acceptable. We will begin with the seniors and work our way down. The frequency will depend on our ability to contact parents and other administrative details. Suspensions will continue daily for those continuing to defy the rule.

Monday morning will also mark the beginning of a nine week (45 school days) "face-metal free" count that will culminate in a changing of the rule to allow some form of facial metal. Every day that goes by with no report of face metal will count toward the 45-day requirement. Once there has been 45 days of no reports of face metal, the rule will change. The details of the new rule will be determined by the Student Council. This plan supports the stated goal of compliance, and was designed accordingly. (RALSTON)

Discipline Procedure Addenda:
Minor offenses: break detention in the library
Too many break detentions, more serious offenses: Saturday school 8am-12noon
Can't be around other students, skipping Saturday school: Suspension
(Skipping Saturday school earns a suspension, but you still owe the Saturday school
(athletes who would miss games can make arrangements with their coach and Mr Ralston)

For a behavior problem that would typically force a teacher to send a student to the office, teachers will now send the student to another classroom for the remainder of the period. The student is not permitted back into class until a conference has been held between the student and the teacher to discuss the problem and reach some kind of solution. The students will not be permitted to do classwork while in the new classroom, but will instead be required to complete a form that reviews their behavior for discussion with the teacher. If the teacher and student do not reach a solution, a conference with the principal can be scheduled. Disruptions that continue in the new classroom will be referred to the principal immediately.

The drink machine outside the office is to be used only during break and lunch. (RALSTON)

Sign-ups for Pep Club will be today at lunchtime in the auditorium. Let us know what size T-shirt you need – we want to get the order placed soon. You can pay when you the T-shirts come in. We will have a poster party next Tuesday after school in the lunchroom. (GOE/COY)
