Troy High School students (grades 9-12) may bring one guest to the Winter Ball Jan 9. Guests must be enrolled in high school or recently graduated (08 or 09), be under 21 years old, and be interviewed by Ms. Haaland and Mr. Ralston. The guest's reputation will be the determining factor in the decision to admit them and staff decisions are final. The guest is expected to be a 'partner' of the Troy student host and not simply a way to get in the door. The student host will be responsible for the behavior of the guest and be subject to subsequent disciplinary action. Guest tickets will not be sold until the guest is approved, and in no case will be sold within three days of the dance. (RALSTON)

Now that winter seems to approaching, students should be aware that we typically cancel or delay school only when the roads are unsafe for the busses. This normally only occurs when we have freezing rain or so much snow the county cannot clear it fast enough. IF SCHOOL IS DELAYED it will be posted on the Troy Public Schools website (http://troymtk-12.us). If it is NOT posted on the website, school is in session. (RALSTON)

The dance is semi-formal – no jeans. No skirts, no tennis shoes, guys need to wear button up shirts & slacks. Girls need to wear dresses. Contact Rachel Garcia or Ann Hines if you can’t get a dress – we know of some you can borrow (they are pretty). (FCCLA)

Chris Crutcher is coming! Mr. Crutcher is the author of nine Young Adult novels, as well as an author who is no stranger to the Banned Book list. He was actually named the 6th most frequently banned author in 2008. Crutcher's reputation as an author is based on telling the truth and his fiction is all based on fact. Crutcher's writing works to show that prejudice in America is not dead but rather subtle and hard to pinpoint. He will be here speaking on censorship THIS Thursday in an all school assembly from 12:45 until the end of 3rd block. (RALSTON)
